Awesome Rant

by andrew corn

I was browsing on digg this morning and came across this rant on deadspin.
I think it’s sad that I’m actually starting to see a lot of these things in
my life but am glad that I’m not all the way there yet.

Here’s a quote from the article

Mattress Adventures

by andrew corn

These last few days I’ve been searching around Lafayette for a new mattress
set. The whole experience of buying furniture is confusing. The first
place I went to look was Sam’s Club. Sam’s is where I got my last bed and
where my parents got theirs. I was fully expecting to walk in, pick up a
new queen sized plush mattress and box spring for around $300 and take it
home. Well apparently the price has gone up because now the plus mattress
was $450 alone and the box spring another $130. Being more than I was
prepared to spend I took my sisters advice and went to go check out Ashley
Furniture. . . only the name was changed to Star furniture. When we finally
figured out that the name must have changed we were presented with another
problem. There were 3 different entrances marked: Express, Home, Select. I
took a gamble that Express would be the most economically and entered the
store. My guess was correct and while their mattress sets were inexpensive
they didn’t look very comfortable so I went to the store next door which was
the “Select” Store. Turns out the select store is the most expensive but
they have the same mattresses as the Home store. (Why don’t they just call
them good, better, best and eliminate the confusion?) Unfortunately the
prices there were more than Sam’s so I decided to call it quits for the day.

Why does this not surprise me?

According to a local newspaper account, a teacher from a village middle school said officials burst unannounced into the school at around 3pm one afternoon and started sifting through the ashtray and bins in the staff-room.

Three “non-compliant” cigarette butts were discovered by the “cigarette marketing consolidate team” which informed the teacher he had violated the related civil servants “cigarette usage rule” After some negotiation the school was spared a fine, but subjected to “public criticism” for “undisciplined practices”.
