Michael Jackson – The Death of Traditional Media
I’m sure by now everybody has heard that Michael Jackson died yesterday (as well as Farrah Fawcett). Although his death is a great loss for the music industry I’m more interested in how the news was broke than the news itself. Of all the media sources TMZ was the first to break the news and it was done not via a live breaking news cast on the television, nor a radio announcement, newspaper article, or even a website. Rather, it was broke via twitter. Within minutes this announcement was retweeted throughout social media networks bringing many sites to a crawling hault. The LA Times reported
